
KOKRAJHAR: On the occasion of the 5th BTR Peace Accord Day, 140 achievers were honored at the Bodoland Achievers' Award Ceremony at the Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar. Four mobile therapy vans and motorized wheelchairs were launched to support specially-abled individuals, sponsored by The Hans Foundation.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended his best wishes to all the people of BTR on this historic day. The event recognized the contributions of 84 departmental and 56 non-departmental achievers.
Addressing the gathering, BTC Chief Pramod Boro highlighted the significance of Bodo Accord Day and its transformative impact on Bodoland. He emphasized the need for holistic development, combining infrastructure advancement with human development for the advancement of the region. He reiterated the Council’s commitment to building a child-friendly and women-empowered BTR.
Announcing a significant step towards women’s empowerment, he stated that 5 women from 420 VCDCs would be selected and trained for skills helping them get employment. He also urged officials and departments to expedite program completion, adopt a proactive approach to assisting the public, and focus on enriching their contributions to society.
Highlighting the recently launched Community Vision Document, the BTC Chief announced that the Council’s Vision Document is set to be released in March this year. Assam Minister for Textiles, UG Brahma, in his address, reflected on the region’s growth and development over the past four years since the signing of the Bodo Peace Accord.
Notably, the ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including BTCLA Speaker Katiram Boro, MLA Jiron Basumatary, EMs, MCLAs, Kokrajhar Municipal Board Chairperson Pratibha Brahma, among others.
