Assam: 2 Detained By Assam Police After Seizing 95 Kg Of Cannabis

GUWAHATI: 95 kg of cannabis was taken from a four-wheeler during an operation by the Biswanath police in Assam. In connection with the seizure, the police team even detained two suspects.

"Yesterday, @BiswanathPol intercepted a four-wheeler vehicle and seized 95 kg Ganja. Also apprehended two accused. Great work @assampolice keep it up", a tweet read by CM Sarma.
On December 5, the Assam Police raided a vehicle in the state's Karimganj district near the Tripura border and found a large amount of marijuana worth Rs 40 lakh.
A police crew from the Churaibari watch station stopped a truck with the registration number TR 01C-1871 after acting on a specific tip.
Along with confiscating the drugs, police detained the truck driver and reported the incident in accordance with the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act of 1985 (NDPS Act).
The truck was coming from the direction of Tripura. We stopped the truck during a normal inspection. 400kg of marijuana was discovered during the search in a truck's hidden room. A police spokesman reported that Rubel Miya, the truck's driver, had been arrested.
In addition, on November 1, during a joint operation carried out by the Police Stations Ratabari, Patharkandi, and RK Nagar in Karimganj district, the Assam police confiscated a massive amount of heroin worth 5 crores that were allegedly coming from Mizoram in four-wheeler.
According to sources, Assam has recently grown to be one of the primary transit hubs for drugs. The Assam Police is working to eradicate all such materials from the state. This has resulted in almost daily capture and seizure of such substances. The threat persists despite the seizure of tonnes of drugs worth millions of rupees and the arrest of numerous individuals.
