NAGAON: In yet another sensational incident of kidnapping in Assam, two minor boys from Bherbheri village in Nagaon district who were allegedly abducted were successfully rescued by the Assam Police on Saturday.

The minors who are brothers  were playing in front of their house on Thursday when they were kidnapped. It was on Friday that the father of the boys, lodged a complaint at the Batadrava Police Station.

In the police complaint, a woman was named to be behind the crime. She was later tracked using her mobile phone location.

Once the location of the woman was confirmed, the Police said, their local counterparts were contacted. They later coordinated on a joint operation.

The boys were finally rescued from the Diphu bus terminus in Karbi Anglong.

So far, a woman and a man have been arrested in this connection. The Police stated that the arrested duo have already confessed of their crime. Further investigation is on to nab any other miscreants involved.

It may be recalled here that the cases of child kidnapping are on a rise in Assam. Not long back in August, there was another kidnapping incident reported where a minor girl was abducted from her residence in the Birubari area of Guwahati. She was rescued by the Police later.

Yet another incident came to light in May this year, when two minors were kidnapped from the Hatigaon locality of the city.

The list not only include the minors but there are also incidents of abduction of adults as well. A furniture worker was kidnapped in Titabor of Jorhat district back in October who was later rescued.

While cases have also come up that involve an militant organisations and inter-state rackets, other motives include petty fights and exploitation of the abductee.
