ORANG: On August 2, over 270 individuals formally joined BPF at a public meeting held at Bandarguri Primary School, organized by the Greater Bandarguri Village Development Committee. Notably, most of these new members defected from BJP and UPPL, expressing disillusionment with their leadership. Speaking to the media, several former UPPL members stated they were misled with false promises and that leaders distanced themselves after winning elections. They also criticized the BJP for pushing a religious agenda, creating disharmony among communities that previously coexisted peacefully.
The event was presided over by Karna Chhetri, President of the BPF Udalguri District Gorkha Ethnic Cell. Other notable attendees included BPF district President and former Minister Rihon Daimari, district Secretary Tulsi Gautam, former Councillor Ripen Daimari, Bhairabkunda Block Samiti President Soneswar Wary, General Secretary Jahan Narzary, Gorkha Ethnic Cell President Balching Tamang, and other community leaders.
