Assam: 5,346 officers and employees to be recruited in Morigaon

MORIGAON: The first phase of training for presiding and first polling officers for the upcoming panchayat elections started in Morigaon on Saturday. The training was conducted at Morigaon College, GKB College and Morigaon Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School.

The training of more than 2,000 presiding and first polling officers was completed. During the training, the polling officers were briefed in detail on their responsibilities and duties. The training of more than 2,000 second and third polling officers will be held at a similar venue on Sunday.

The training of 188 women presiding and polling officers will be held at Morigaon College from 10 am on April Training for Zonal and Sector Officers will be held from 1.30 pm. The second phase of team training will be held on April 23. The second phase of the panchayat elections will be held on May 7 from 7.30 am to 4.30 pm at 972 polling stations for 840 wards in 12 Zila Parishads, five Anchalik Panchayats and 84 Gaon Panchayats. 84 Sector Officers and 12 Zonal Officers, 1166 Presiding Officers and 1166 Polling Officers have been deployed in Morigaon district for the panchayat elections. 5,346 officers and employees will be deployed throughout the election process with 10 per cent reservation.

The training was attended by District Commissioner Devashis Sharma, Election Observer Udayaditya Gogoi, Additional District Commissioners Anusua Sharma and Sulakshana Barpathragohain and several officers, trainers and master trainers of the district administration.
