

GUWAHATI: An elderly man died after being hit by a train in the Khaigarh locality of the state of Assam. The incident is said to have happened in the morning hours of Tuesday.
The victim was reportedly hit by the Mairabari-Guwahati Kolongpar Passenger train. The public noticed the dead body lying by the tracks in the morning and informed the local police. Police arrived at the spot soon and identified the victim as one Nagen Sharma. He was reportedly 60 years old and a resident of the Dighaldari village under the Raha Police Station of the state.
Locals claimed to be a case of suicide. The police took custody of the dead body on arrival and sent the same for the necessary procedures. An investigation has also been started to ascertain the causes of the incident.
In a tragic incident that took place in the morning hours of last Wednesday, a journalist lost his life in a road accident that took place in the Beltola region of Guwahati. According to the police, the incident took place in the morning hours of Wednesday when the journalist was on his way to his office from his home on his two-wheeler. His vehicle was hit from behind by a city bus leading to the death of the person.
The journalist has been identified as Mushtaq Alam working with a media house in the city. He was moving from his home near Basistha Mandir towards his office on GS Road. The incident took place when a speeding city bus bearing registration number AS 01 HC 2629 hit the journalist from behind as it was trying to overtake him. Police personnel reached the spot of the accident almost immediately and seized the city bus.
