Assam: 76th Republic Day celebrated in Dhubri

DHUBRI: The 76th Republic Day was celebrated with pomp and gaiety in the premises of Bidyapith Mandir School at Gauripur of Dhubri district with day-long programmes.

Earlier, on the eve of Republic Day, the school organized various sports and cultural activities, and a competition was held among the students.

After the unfurling of the National Flag in the compound of the school, the guests and other dignitaries, present on the occasion of Republic Day celebration, spoke about the importance of the day, which was being celebrated across India as red-letter day.

“On this day, the Constitution of India came into being, declaring India as a Republic Country emphasising a government of the people, for the people, and by the people,” the speakers explained.

Principal of the school Sonu Barua Deb Adhikari presided over the function, while Director of the institution Tahrin Begum, retired vice-principal of BN College Motleb Ali Mondal, retired BEEO Sohrab Ali, and other guests were present.

Prizes and certificates of excellence were distributed among the students who won in the  various events and competitions.
