PATHSALA: The 77th Biennial Asam Sahitya Sabha: Pathsala-Bajali Session was officially inaugurated with the unveiling of the prestigious entrance gate today.

The symbolic gateway to literature and culture was unveiled by Krishna Roy, a renowned figure from Pathsala and the recipient of the Assam Saurav Award.

Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Assam Cabinet Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development, Judicial, Tourism, and General Administration, expressed his pride and excitement at the event. He noted the significance of the occasion in promoting Assamese literature and culture.

In a post on X, the Assam Cabinet Minister stated, "A Grand Literary Celebration Begins! The prestigious entrance gate of the 77th Biennial Asam Sahitya Sabha: Pathsala-Bajali Session has been inaugurated! Honored to have Pathsala’s Pride & Assam Saurav Award recipient Shri Krishna Roy unveil this symbolic gateway to literature and culture."

Meanwhile, the three-day delegate meet of Bangla Sahitya Sabha, Asom, began in Silchar on January 21, focusing on bridging the gap between the Barak and Brahmaputra valleys. Minister Krishnendu Paul, who inaugurated the event, praised Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s efforts to unite all communities of Assam.

The Sabha honored former Union Minister Kabindra Purkayastha with the ‘Asom Bandhab’ award, which was received by his son, Kanad Purkayastha. Debojit Borah, Secretary of Axom Sahitya Sabha, emphasized valley unity, while Prashanta Chakrabarty, General Secretary of Bangla Sahitya Sabha, called for greater cooperation with Axom Sahitya Sabha, including memorial lectures on cultural icons.
