KOKRAJHAR: All-Bodo Students Union (ABSU) on its 2nd day of historic 57th annual conference at Bofofa Fwthar in Dotma on Thursday affirmed to go ahead with the transformative agenda for the community and implementation of all clauses of BTR accord.

As part of the programme, the 2nd day started with the morning prayer and hoisting of organizational flag by Dipen Boro, president of ABSU followed by floral tribute to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma by Parameswar Brahma, former general secretary of ABSU and ex-MLA while homage to Bodoland martyrs was paid by Kwrwmdao Wary, Vice-President of the ABSU. The floral tribute to the great Bodo personalities was paid by Chilarai Brahma, founder general secretary of Ramfalbil Anchalik Bodo Students Union.

 Prominent personalitis and achievers in different fields- Dr. Anil Boro, Professor, Folklore Research Dept., G.U. (Padmashree Awardee, 2025), Barlangfa Narzary, Gaurav Awardee-2025, Sahitya Akademi awardees- from Bodo in 2024- Aron Raja Basumatary, Swrni Thakai (Novel), Mrs. Virgin Jekova Machahary, Buhuma Boinibw (Poetry), Uttara Bwiswmuthiary, Kanchan (Translation) and Selfmade Rani Baro, Saikhlum (Short Stories) were felicitated and honoured on the occasion while 14 successful candidates of APSC, Civil Service Exam, 2024, from Bodo were also felicitated. Besides, 7th Madhuram Boro ‘Best Teacher’ award winners for LP/UP, HS/HSS/SSS- 2025, Deobar Ramchiary, Head Teacher, Barama High School, Baksa, Basiram Basumatary, Assistant Teacher, UN Brahma ME School, Duphguri, Udalguri, topper of Central Talent Search Exam- 2025 of class- IX & X, selected by the ABSU, class X- Mithisar Swargiary of Bathou Ashram High School, Medhaghat, Baksa, Nayanmoni Boro, UN Academy Tamulpur and John Boro of Bathou Ashram High School, Medhaghat, Baksa, from class IX, Dwijiri Narzary of Bathou Ashram H.S. School, Barama, Baksa, Juhisha Kachary, UN Academy, Angard-howa, Baksa and Dipa Rani Basumatary, Jwngma RBMHS School, Chirang and  Svwarnalata Narary, Dakshin Bijni High School, Chirang were also felicitated on the occasion.

 Education and Youth Conclave on th topic- “Empowering Youth for Vibrant Bodoland Region and a Vikshit Bharat” demonstration of Bodoland Space & Science chaired by the ABSU president Dipen Boro was inaugurated by the Chief of BTR Pramod Boro.

In his inaugural speech, the CEM of BTR Pramod Boro said, “Science and Technology are dominating the world. We are to give stress on the development of science and technology subjects and to upgrade this trend, the government of BTR has signed MoU with the Augusta Foundation for Space Science, Bangalore and training to teachers are being sent in phase manner and space science labs are being opened in ten Higher Secondary Schools of BTC. Free coaching for 50 intending students for Engineering aspirants are being given under BTC Super-50 Mission which will be increased to 100 from next year, he said adding that every student must be clean, discipline and stay away from alcohol and drugs and concentrate in their study.

“We cannot neglect mother tongue medium but most of the tribal communities have not seen the solution of problems. Bodos were compelled to launch movement for introduction of Bodo as medium of instruction from LP to HE, HS and up to University level, script issue, text  books, teacher’s appointment, timely distribution of text books, provincialuzation of schools etc.” He said eleven ITIs had been set up in BTC and Vocational Institutes are given due importance for the students to find out their carrier opportunities.

Addressing the gathering as the special guest, state Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said, “The government of Assam has brought a new change of transformation. The transition of the state got stag in the past. We are implementing NEP, 2020 in fast manner in Assam and developing AI and industries”. He said for youth empowerment, knowledge and skill are important and the government has taken initiatives for skill development which is becoming utmost important right from technological shift to face the trend of 21st century”.  He said students should be aware of the creative thinking, critical judge, innovative vision, technology literacy, leadership skill, flexibility, general and knowledge skill for their strong foundation. He called upon the BTC administrators to focus on the technological advancement and give best scope to the students.
