PATHSALA: In a significant step towards empowering differently-abled persons, Gautam Das, the Executive Member of the Social Welfare Department of BTC, distributed 15 e-rickshaws to economically backward persons in his constituency at Mathanguri under the scheme Manav Seva Mission (MSM). The e-rickshaws were formally handed over at a meeting held in Jakhalirpar village, where the 15 beneficiaries were felicitated.
The recipients expressed their satisfaction and gratitude for the assistance, which will help them. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including CDPO of Baksa district Simanta Choudhury, renowned educator Ranjit Kumar Roy, President of Barpeta road Sahitya Sabha Arup Bayan, and educator Pradip Devnath, Child specialist Dr. B Bhattajrya among others.
Apart from the e-rickshaw distribution, Gautam Das has been taking several other initiatives for the welfare of special individuals in the constituency, showing his commitment to their betterment and inclusion in society.
Gautam Das, Executive Member of the Social Welfare Department of BTC said, “I have always emphasized the importance of making differently-abled persons individuals financially independent. Under the BTC Government’s Manav Seva Mission, earlier we have distributed e-rickshaws to 100 individuals and provided one-time financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 to 200 differently-abled people across the region. Medical camps have been organized to issue UDID certificates.”
“This initiative will benefit not only Divyang individuals but also their families, helping them gain a dignified place in society.” He added.
