KOKRAJHAR: A delegation of the All-Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) led by Dipen Boro called on the Minister of Education Dr. Ranoj Pegu at his official residence in Guwahati on Saturday evening to discuss the key issues of Bodo medium education and the solution of problems, including the implementation of clause 6.3 of the BTR accord in a time-bound manner.
The president of the ABSU, Dipen Boro, said the joint delegation of ABSU and BSS had a discussion with Education Minister of Assam Dr. Ranoj Pegu at his official residence, Dispur, late evening on Saturday. Boro greeted the people for the Ali-Aie-Ligang festival. He said the meeting was mainly on school provincialization in BTR, Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC), and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council; the establishment of model high schools under green field projects; higher secondary up-gradation; Bodoland University campus in Udalguri; and other problems.
The meeting was also attended by the vice president of the ABSU Kwrwmdao Wary, general secretary Khanindra Basumatary, general secretary of the BSS Nilakanta Goyary, and BTC Director of Education Jagadish Prasad Brahma.
Sources said the delay of implementation of clause 6.3 of the BTR accord had paused finding a way to solve the problems of Bodo medium education in the state. The provincialization of schools, appointment of adequate teachers in the schools, college and university, establishment of model high schools, and government colleges in the region have not been made so far, the sources added, saying that the status of Bodo medium schools outside the BTC has been in a worse state.
