KOKRAJHAR: The Adhya Shradha ceremony of noted Bodo singer, comedian, cine-artiste, radio artiste, and cultural worker, Pwilao Basumatary, who had worked in Assamese telefilm Beharbari Outpost, was held at his birthplace Laokhata, Shimla in Baksa district on Sunday amidst a huge gathering of well-wishers. Basumatary passed away on the night of April 22 at Down Town Hospital in Guwahati leaving behind his wife, a son, a daughter and many relatives. He was suffering from liver and kidney ailments.

As part of the last ritual ceremony, former secretary of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) Upendra Deory paid a floral tribute along with BTC EM Ranjit Basumatary, MLA Lawrence Islary, MCLA Mantu Boro, Advisor of DBHA Jogeswar Brahma, and other distinguished guests. A souvenir, Fwilao Basumatary ni Aagan, was released by MCLA Mantu Boro while an open discussion on the life sketch of Late Fwilao Basumatary was also held. Earlier, the statue of Fwilao Basumatary was unveiled by noted comedian and director of Manaj Serfang Academy, Fwila J Borgoyary.
