

Guwahati: Four districts in Assam have been witnessing 5-10 hours of power cuts on Monday, said Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL).
The Four districts where the power supply is disrupted are Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Chirang, and Dhubri.
''This is for Kind information to the valued consumers of APDCL that due to an emergency shutdown at 220KV/132KV/33KV of Assam Electricity Grid Corporation's Salakati grid, there will be no power supply to Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Chirang, and Dhubri districts,'' an official notice from the company said.
As per reports, people in these districts complained that they were not informed the same in advance.
In June this year, in several parts of Guwahati power cuts were reported following the electrical infrastructures which were damaged in various parts of Assam due to heavy storms and incessant rains.
"Restoration works are underway and the employees of APDCL are working on a war footing to restore the lines as early as possible," the APDCL statement read.
The APDCL also took to Twitter to share the damage caused by incessant rainfall.
"Several electrical infrastructures have been damaged in various parts of Assam due to heavy storms and rain. Restoration works are going on and the employees of APDCL are working on war-footing manner to restore the lines as early as possible," it said in a tweet.
For public safety, the APDCL had disconnected lines in the following affected areas – LKRB Path, Santi Path, and some parts of the Anil Nagar/Nabin Nagar/Tarun Nagar (bye lane 2) areas.
The power supply had been disconnected in the Ministerial Staff Quarters Colony area in Supermarket (Dispur) and SK Baruah Road due to severe waterlogging under Capital ESD.
