Assam: AJP Leader Allegedly Opens Fire At Truck Driver In Lakhimpur

Guwahati: In a horrifying incident, a leader of the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) allegedly opened fire at a truck driver in the Boginadi area of Lakhimpur district on May 7.

As per reports, the AJP leader shot the driver with his licensed gun while the driver was parking a truck carrying broiler feed at a godown in Boginadi.

The incident unravelled when the AJP leader was involved in a verbal spat with the driver over the parking, after which he took out his licensed gun and initially fired a live round of ammunition in the air and thereafter shot the driver in the chest.

The injured driver has been identified as Kunbahar Ali, who hails from Barpeta. He has been rushed to a nearby hospital and is said to be in critical condition.

However, the doctors referred him to Dibrugarh's Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) to avail better treatment.

There are no reports of the arrest of the AJP leader so far.

Earlier, in a shocking incident in Assam's Dibrugarh, a minor girl of 15 years old allegedly shot herself and sustained severe injuries.

The sensational incident took place on 1st April in the Amlapatty area which is the Dibrugarh district of Assam.

According to reports, the minor girl shot herself by using the licensed pistol her father kept at their home and she took her father's revolver and allegedly shot herself.

Meanwhile, the injured girl had been admitted to the AMCH (Assam Medical College and Hospital). It was reported that the condition of the girl was in critical condition and was been treated with a proper medical cure.

The reason for what triggered the incident and why the girl took such an extreme step to hurt herself was yet to be ascertained. Notably, it was learned that the father of the injured girl is an authorized arms dealer in the Dibrugarh District.
