Tezpur: As part of the state government’s ongoing 12-day development programme, an event was held on Friday in Tezpur where Minister Pijush Hazarika participated as the chief guest. The programme organized at the Tezpur Collegiate Higher Secondary School playground, aimed to distribute various motivational awards to the students of Sonitpur district. Minister of Water Resources Pijush Hazarika presented the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Merit Award and the Anundoram Borooah Award during the event.

This year, a total of 1641 students, including male students who scored 75% or above and female students who scored 60% or above in the Higher Secondary Final Examination, received scooters under the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Merit Award of the Pragyan Bharati Scheme. Additionally, 737 students who scored 75% or above in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination were provided rupees 12,500 each through DBT under the Anundoram Borooah Award. Furthermore, 8865 students studying in Class 9 in government schools received bicycles under the Chief Minister’s Special Scheme.

Speaking at the event, Sonitpur District Commissioner Ankur Bharali delivered the welcome address. Minister Pijush Hazarika, in his keynote speech, emphasized the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s commitment to ensuring the holistic development of students through various schemes. He mentioned that alongside the awards distributed today, the Chief Minister’s “Niyut Moina” Scheme ensures that no student has to halt their educational journey. Addressing the students, the Minister further highlighted the state government’s prioritization of health and education, asserting that no nation can progress without good health and education. He extended his best wishes to the students for their future endeavours. The Minister also reiterated that the Chief Minister is delivering on all his promises, citing initiatives like Orunodoi, microfinance loan waivers, and the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Assam Mission, which aim to uplift the general public.
