Assam: Anuradha Sharma Pujari Conferred Joymoti Award 2025 in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH: The Dibrugarh Ladies Club on Saturday conferred Joymoti Award 2025 to eminent journalist and author Anuradha Sharma Pujari during a programme at Gymkhana club in Dibrugarh.

Pujari is a acclaimed  author, artist, and editor of Sadin and Sathori. She was the recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award 2021 for her novel “Eyat Ekhon Aranya Asil”. The Joymati Award, 2025 with a citation and a cash amount of Rs11,000 were presented to her at a function organized at Dibrugarh Gymkhana Club.

Speaking at the programme, Anuradha Sharma Pujari said, “We thank the Dibrugarh  Ladies Club for choosing me for the Joymoti Award 2025. Its not just a award its a blessings for me. For last several years, Dibrugarh Ladies Club has been conferring the Joymoti Award to such women who have contributed for the society.”

“Sati Joymoti is a symbol of patriotism, tolerance and honesty. She had sacrificed her life to protect her husband and the Ahom kingdom from the tyranny of Lora Raja (Sulikphaa). She refused to reveal her husband’s whereabouts under torture, ultimately becoming a symbol of bravery and patriotism in Assam history,” she said.

She further added, “We should imbibe the heroic and sacrifice of Sati Joymoti. We should always thinks for the society and for the land from where, we belongs and work for the development and greater interest of the people. What we have earned, should be returned back to the society,”.

Suman Poddar, Kalpana Khound, Sarita Sahewala, Punita Chawla, Dr Aditi Baruah, Ritu Baruah, Tribeni Bordoloi, Sharadi Das among others were present during the programme.
