PALASBARI: The 32nd Foundation Day of the Assam Press Correspondents’ Union (APCU) was observed by the APCU Kamrup Metro District Committee at Lankeshwar on Wednesday.
To mark this year’s Foundation Day, members of the APCU Kamrup Metro District Committee gathered at the premises of the Lankeshwar Durga Mandir on Wednesday. The APCU flag was hoisted by the Kamrup Metro District President, Ratan Kalita. Following this, District Secretary Abhijit Kalita addressed the members. In his speech, Kalita praised the initiatives taken by the APCU for the welfare of journalists in Assam. President Ratan Kalita urged the government to expedite the health insurance process for journalists. He also stated that APCU, in its 32-year history, has made significant sacrifices for the betterment of the journalist community.
It may be mentioned here that the committee also visited the residences of five prominent social workers who have made notable contributions to society and felicitated them.
