HAFLONG: Apex Bodies of Kuki Inpi Assam, Hmar Inpui, and Biate Devanpui expressed their solidarity stand in respect of the proposed construction of NH in regard to the Option-1 alignment route, which commences near Panimur Police Station (KM 96+500) and then progresses through Panimur, Miyungua, 29 Kilo, 16 Kilo, Langmeklu, Umrangso, Juthai, Choto Langlai, New Sangbar, Lengpui, Old Sangbar, Vaitang, Khobak, Thuruk, and Tongpui and terminates near Harangajao Police Station (KM 200+450), informed Kuki Inpi Assam President H Haolai, GS Hmar Inpui Manthang Parate, and president Biate Devanpui Nelson Khothlir while addressing a press meet held at Boat House, Haflong, on Saturday. They said that the survey for the proposed highway was done by PWD in 2011 and approved as surveyed. This alignment is the shortest. This is the alignment approved in the Official Gazette. They expressed their gratitude to the BJP government at the centre, state, and N.C. Hills Autonomous Council level for the proposed NH-637 (package II) alignment as approved in the Official Gazette connecting Nellie, Panimur, Umrangso, Sangbar, Khobak, and Thuruk, and terminating at Harangajao. They also expressed their special thanks to the CEM Debolal Gorlosa for declaring in his budget speech 2025 the proposed national highway, mentioning Khobak and Thuruk being connected in the proposed alignment (Option-1). They informed us that the press meet was done to make the stand of the concerned Apex Bodies clear that they support the proposed NH-637 (package II) alignment (option 1), and the apex bodies will not accept any other alignment other than the alignment approved and declared in the Official Gazette dated 4th March 2014.
