Apurna Narzary Leads Indian Women’s Football Team to 7-0 Victory Against Singapore

HANOI: The Indian Women's Football Team, captained by Assam's daughter Apurna Narzary, thrashed Singapore by 7-0, on Tuesday in Vietnam.

Today's decisive victory of India in the first round of the AFC Under-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers was led by the women's team's captain, Apurna Narzary. 

The women's team defeated their opponents by a score of seven and completely destroyed them.

Apurna Narzary of Assam, the team's captain, concluded a strong performance against Singapore in the game played in Vietnam with a hat trick. In light of the news and the fact that women's sports are now unquestionably receiving a lot more attention in advance of International Women's Day, there is new optimism for equality in sports.

According to reports, Apurna Narzary was stunned for a moment when head coach Maymol Rocky revealed that she will be captaining the squad in the AFC U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers Round 1 encounter.

Apurna Narzary, who is from Kokrajhar in Assam, was the first woman to share the experience. She remarked, "I could not believe my ears for a little while. For me, that was a great honour. When Maymol Madam informed me of my appointment, I felt proud. At the same time, I immediately thought that it was a tremendous responsibility and that we should do everything in our power to advance to the next round.”

Apurna Narzary, meanwhile, is a pro with the national team, having competed for India's U-18 team in the SAFF Women's Championship. Her ability to challenge the opposing defence from the front has earned her a spot on the senior squad.

Apurna Narzary remarked, "At first, I was a little anxious, but my team's seniors gave me the confidence and support I needed. This group dynamic was enjoyable for me, and it also gave me more drive to work harder.”
