BOKAKHAT: An incident involving an armed individual entering the premises of three houses in Bachapathar, under Komargaon Police Station in Golaghat District, on the night of March 25 has created a sensation in the area.

According to reports, at around 1am on March 25, a lone armed individual attempted to steal vehicles from the garages of three families of Dilip Gogoi, Pranab Chetia, and Mohim Konwar respectively, residing in Bachapathar. The miscreant also tried to take a motorcycle from one of the houses. This entire act was captured on CCTV.

Upon reviewing the footage, the families suspect that the miscreant came with the intention of stealing vehicles, as the video clearly shows an attempt to flee with a bike from Pranab Chetia’s house.

This incident has created a state of panic among the affected families and the local residents. Notably, a previous incident had occurred in broad daylight at Pranab Chetia’s residence, where thieves made away with gold ornaments. However, Komargaon Police have yet to make any breakthrough in that case, leading the victims to express frustration.

What makes this incident particularly alarming is that armed individuals are roaming freely in Bachapathar, which is barely a kilometer away from the Komargaon Police Station. Concerned citizens have strongly criticized the role of the police, alleging that nighttime patrolling is either insufficient or merely a staged act. In response to the incident, a team of journalists visited the Komargaon Police Station this morning and attempted to speak with Officer-in-Charge Kabita Hazarika. However, she refrained from commenting, citing the ongoing investigation.

The presence of armed individuals in Komargaon, a region known for its peaceful environment, has deeply worried the local residents.
