ORANG: In a move to empower rural communities and promote self-reliance, an ‘Aspiration Haat’ was formally inaugurated at Dimakuchi, Bhairabkunda Block, under the aegis of NITI Aayog’s ‘Sampoornata Abhiyan’ (Saturation Campaign). The initiative is aimed at providing a common platform to rural men and women to market their locally made products and improve their livelihoods.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Udalguri Deputy Commissioner Pulak Patgiri, who emphasized the transformative potential of such initiatives in the rural economy. The Aspiration Haat focuses on six key areas of development: healthcare services, quality education, sustainable agriculture, water resource management, skill development, and basic infrastructure. Through this weekly market, Self-Help Group (SHG) women, Jeevika Sakhis, and other local producers will be able to showcase and sell their traditional and locally manufactured products directly to the public. The initiative is expected to significantly enhance their economic opportunities, foster entrepreneurial growth, and lead towards long-term self-sufficiency. Speaking on the occasion, DC Pulak Patgiril stated that the Aspiration Haat would continue for a week, offering a vibrant marketplace for villagers. The event reflects NITI Aayog’s vision of bringing rural talents and products into the mainstream economy by building skills, offering marketing avenues, and improving incomes.
