MORIGAON: In the declaration of the result of the Assembly election-2021, the BJP bagged two seats out of three seats in Morigaon district and one seat was bagged by the Congress. Sitting BJP MLA Piush Hazarika won the Jagiroad seat (79) by defeating his rival, Congress candidate Swapan Kr. Mandal by a margin of 29,895 votes.

Hazarika received 1,05,823 votes and Swapan Kr. Mandal received 75,928 votes. In the Morigaon constituency, the sitting BJP MLA Ramakanta Deuri retained his seat by defeating Bani Kanta Das by a margin of 7184 votes.

While Deuri received 81,153 votes, Das received 44,969 votes. Besides, in the Laharighat constituency, Congress candidate Dr Asif Md. Nazar bagged the seat by defeating Independent candidate Siddique Ahmed by a margin of 2,057 votes. Dr Asif Nazar received 60,773 votes and Siddique Ahmed received 58,716. BJP candidate of Laharighat Kadiruzzaman Zinnah received 34,059 votes.
