Assam Assembly’s PAC team reviews government projects in Chirang

KOKRAJHAR: A seven-member team from the Assam Legislative Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), led by Chairman Nurul Huda visited Chirang district on Monday to assess the implementation and progress of various ongoing government development projects.

The delegation included legislators Ramendra Kalita, Bhabendra Nath Bharali, Utpal Borah, Karim Uddin Barbhuiya, Hafiz Bashir Ahmed, and Abdur Rashid Mandal. The team conducted comprehensive field visits to key project sites, including Kajalgaon Stadium, the Tribal Guest House, the construction site of Sidli-Kashikotra Higher Secondary School, and the protection works for villages, mainly Durgapur, Birhangaon, Dangaigaon, etc. from the River Aie (Right Bank). Other sites included the irrigation canal with slab culvert at Anthaibari Muslimbosti (under MGNREGA), and Champabati Mahal No. 2, among others.

The PAC members reviewed the execution status, quality of work, and timelines of the ongoing schemes. The visit aimed to ensure accountability, transparency, and the efficient use of public funds in developmental initiatives under various government schemes.

Following the field inspections, the committee held a detailed review meeting with district officials at the DC’s conference hall in Chirang. The meeting was attended by Chirang DC Jatin Bora, additional secretaries Sushama Hazarika and Arup Kumar Sarma, Joint Secretary Deergha Baruah, Under Secretary Fakhar Uddin Chowdhury, and other senior officials.
