PATHSALA: To make students aware of how Members of Parliament raised questions and debated different problems and how Bills were passed, the district administration of Bajali organized a 'Youth Parliament' event under the guidance of an observer in lower Assam's Bajali district.

The event, held in the DC office premises, allowed students to assume the roles of various public representatives including the chief minister, speaker, ministers, and opposition leaders. More than 50 students from government and private schools participated in the programme and expressed their excitement to be a part of the event.

The participants took on the roles of political leaders, asking questions and addressing issues such as the rising cases of chain snatching, concern about air pollution, price hikes of books, and appealed to the police to install CCTV cameras to control incidents of crime.

Furthermore, the students expressed their concerns about inadequate facilities for the students studying in coaching institutes and the educational qualification of the teaching faculty.

Deputy Commissioner of Bajali Mridul Kumar Das said, "Youth Parliament event is a platform for the youth to speak up, participate in the policy direction and have an impact on the growth agenda of the country. From this programme, students will know the inside role of Parliament. This will also help them in future."

The initiative aimed to educate youngsters about the country's governance and democratic processes, fostering a sense of responsibility and patriotism from a young age. The programme encouraged students to engage with the functioning of Parliament, promoting democratic values and national pride.
