BOKAKHAT: The embankment stretching from Bankuwal to Negheriting under Bokakhat’s Samazila is once again under threat. In 2024, a section of the embankment at Bankuwal was washed away during floods, causing widespread panic and significant damage in the surrounding Mahura Mouza area.
Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma had personally inspected the site and ordered emergency repairs. However, the area near the previously damaged section is now showing signs of danger once again. Water seepage has begun, and bubbling has been observed at the site. Although repairs have been carried out according to departmental procedures, local residents remain anxious about the situation.
