DHEKIAJULI: With the festival of Bohag Bihu approaching, preparations are in full swing across Dhekiajuli Co-District to celebrate this festival of identity and life for the Assamese people. Various locations have already started organizing Bihu training camps and workshops, further enhancing the enthusiasm and joy of Rongali Bihu.
In line with this spirit, several organizations in Sirajuli under Dhekiajuli Co-District have been conducting Bihu training sessions and workshops to provide introductory lessons on Bihu dance, Bihu songs, and Bihu instruments to young children. Accordingly, under the initiative of the Sonitpur District Committee and Dhekiajuli Unit of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), the Sirajuli branch of the Parishad has organized an 11-day Bihu Training Camp at Milonjyoti Naamghar premises in Sirajuli, near Dhekiajuli. This event is being held in collaboration with Oikyatan Lokasanskriti Bikash Aaru Sadhana Mancha and with the support of the Assam Government’s Cultural Directorate under the banner of the renowned ‘Jyoti Bharati.’
The camp, which started on March 18, will continue until March 28. It was inaugurated in a brief yet meaningful ceremony by Dhruvajyoti Kakati, President of the Sirajuli Branch Sahitya Sabha, and a retired eminent teacher and social worker, who lit the ceremonial lamp and addressed the gathering. Sujit Kataki, the advisor of the Sirajuli branch and Central Education Secretary of AJYCP, also extended his blessings and best wishes to the trainees.
The training camp is being conducted under the supervision of Sirajuli Unit AJYCP President Saddula Ahmed and General Secretary Ranjit Baniya. The lead trainers for the event include renowned Bihu artists Manoj Jyoti Bhuyan, Kangkana Keot, Gakul Saikia, Nripita Koch, Rikusmita Keot, Jimoni Hazarika, Luna Deka, and Gunjan Nath. Among them, except for two, the rest have participated as master trainers or performers in the grand Bihu World Record event.
The inauguration ceremony was hosted by Dharani Keot, an advisor to the branch and Vice-President of the district committee. It was attended by notable guests such as Zonal Secretary Jaynal Abedin, Kulen Hazarika, Satya Kalita, and Dhanada Saikia Kataki, along with many enthusiastic Bihu lovers, guardians, and local residents.
