Assam: Bilasipara Authorities Restrict Non-Motor Vehicles on Highways Due to Fog-Related Accidents

A government notification from Bilasipara authorities noted that foggy weather during the winter season has reduced visibility, leading to multiple accidents in the Bilasipara Co-District area.

BILASIPARA: A government notification vide Letter No. SOPD.BLP/2024/205, dated 12/12/2024 from Bilasipara Sub-Divisional Police Officer and Bilasipara Co- District Commissioner Letter No. - BLP/MAG-08/2024/(60-61), dated 16/12/2024 stated that it has been observed that during the winter season, visibility levels have decreased due to foggy weather conditions, resulting in multiple accidents in and around Bilasipara Co-District area.

Accordingly, autos, tempos, trolley tractors with trolley e-rickshaws, e-carts, horse carts, bullock carts, and other non-motor vehicles during these low-visibility hours poses a heightened risk of accidents, endangering both passenger and other road users.

Accordingly, all e-rickshaws, e-carts, horse carts, cow carts and other non-mechanized vehicles are prohibited on National Highways and state roads. It is crucial to implement safety measures to prevent loss of lives, minimize risks, and ensure public safety on the Co- District’s roads during those conditions. The movement of all e-rickshaws, e-carts, (such as house carts, bullock carts, etc.), and other non-motor vehicles are strictly prohibited on National Highways and busy state Highways within Bilasipara Co-District.

Regarding the operation of autos, tempos, tractors with trolley, e-rickshaws, e-carts (such as house carts, bullock carts, etc.), and other non-motor vehicles on state PWD roads, their movement is strictly restricted from 09.00 pm to 06.00 am until 31st January 2025, on Beltali to Bilasipara town, Hakama to Bilasipara Town, Bangalipara to Saptagram road, Lakshiganj to Beltali road.
