
GUWAHATI: A dark chapter in the history of the Assam Legislative Assembly was marked today. An unprecedented and disgraceful incident unfolded in the sacred Assembly premises. Assam BJP President Dilip Saikia strongly condemned the unruly behavior of Congress and AIUDF MLAs, describing it as extremely concerning.
One alarming incident involved Congress MLA Nurul Huda, representing Bengali-origin residents, physically attacking Deputy Speaker Numal Momin, a representative of indigenous tribal communities.
Simultaneously, AIUDF MLAs, also representing Bengali-origin residents, attempted to disrupt the Assembly by storming into the premises with bamboo sticks in hand.
BJP President Dilip Saikia strongly criticized these incidents, emphasizing that such aggressive conduct poses a serious threat to Assam's future. He warned that the aggressive mindset displayed by MLAs from Congress and AIUDF will never be tolerated.
Saikia further stated that the people of Assam are deeply concerned about today's actions by Congress and AIUDF MLAs. He called this unprecedented incident a blot in the history of Assam's Assembly, where a Deputy Speaker was attacked, and AIUDF MLAs attempted to enter the sacred premises wielding bamboo sticks.
Expressing outrage, Saikia condemned the Congress MLA’s assault on an indigenous tribal representative as a grave warning for Assam’s future. He demanded an immediate investigation into the incident and called for the swift arrest of Congress MLA Nurul Huda.
Additionally, Saikia urged the Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly to take strict action against AIUDF MLAs who tried to create unrest in the Assembly.
