BTR took a wide stride on Thursday towards the Green Bodoland by officially forming collaboration with an internationally reputed organization, the World Resources Institute (WRI) on Wednesday at an event held in CIT-Kokrajhar.

KOKRAJHAR: BTR took a wide stride on Thursday towards the Green Bodoland by officially forming collaboration with an internationally reputed organization, the World Resources Institute (WRI) on Wednesday at an event held in CIT-Kokrajhar.

The MoU was signed by the Principal secretary of BTC Akash Deep and CEO of WRI Madhav Pai in presence of CEM of BTC Pramod Boro. BTC has set the development of towns and cities of BTC in a sustainable manner as a major goal while being very sensitive towards the land, water, air, climate and other elements of the nature. WRI has been working on Sustainable Urban Development worldwide and have brought many laudable changes.

Madhav Pai, CEO of WRI is a renowned thinker and practitioner in the field of urbanization, climate and environment. The event was attended by other dignitaries including BTC EM Wilson Hasda, general secretary of UPPL-Raju Kr. Narzary and the chairpersons of Municipal Corporations of BTC.

During the launch, the chief of BTC highlighted the ongoing works in BTC streamlining the development with nature and sustainability. With a hope to turn the villages of BTC as equipped and sufficient as the urban areas, he encouraged the officials and leaders of BTC to make the best out of this collaboration. Referring to BTC as the gateway of the Northeast, BTC chief Pramod Bodo planned to bring changes impacting all lives in BTC and setting example in the entire region through this collaboration. The event was also graced by a few words of Principal Secretary of BTC Akash Deep who sternly believed that the MoU will help the administration in making the efficient plans and using the funds in the right manner. Madhav Pai, CEO of WRI also hoped that the working in BTC region will give them a new scope for ideas and implementation and they look forward to begin their sincere work on the ground soon.

Taking the opportunity of the cause of the event, a book on the completion of 100 days and 150 targets, the development programme was launched by the CEM of BTC Pramod Boro. The book is a testament to BTC’s commitment and capacity to take up development missions and successfully executing them. The event ended with a brief dialogue between the Madhav Pai and Municipal Chairpersons present stimulating many more such to come.
