Assam: Body recovered in Golaghat

GOLAGHAT: A dead body was recovered at Upper Merapani on Thursday evening. As per information, the dead body was found behind the F/142 Bn LOC, approximately 600 metres away under PS Merapani Golaghat Assam.

The deceased has been identified as Jugananda Thengal aged about 31 years, son of Phatik Thengal, resident of Village Purabagla in Golaghat district. He was allegedly a drug addict who had spent 6 months in the Pathsala rehabilitation centre in 2023. The cause of death has been suspected to be an overdose of drugs. One section of F/142 Bn and a team from Merapani police were deployed at the spot to maintain law and order.
