DEMOW: The Bohumukhi Sangeet Kala Kendra, Demow, celebrated its 17th foundation day at its premises on Joymoti Path, Demow recently. As per the schedule, the programme began with the lighting of an earthen lamp by Puna Gogoi, the founder president of Bohumukhi Sangeet Kala Kendra. A smriti tarpan in memory of the prominent tabla player, Late Jun Konwar, was offered by Tilok Barua, vice-president of the kendra. A tribute was also paid to the soldiers by lighting an earthen lamp.
The stage was inaugurated by Bhuban Gogoi, a cultural worker. An individual song competition was organized in three categories, in which students participated actively. The programme was anchored by secretary Jagat Shyam. The judges for the competition were renowned singers Pratima Phukan Konwar, Kalpana Gohain, and Rita Changmai.
During the event, the Bohumukhi Sangeet Kala Kendra, Demow, felicitated many distinguished personalities of the society. Students performed the Saraswati Vandana and children’s songs composed by Lakhima Phukan, the principal of Bohumukhi Sangeet Kala Kendra, Demow.
