Assam: Book fair begins in Biswanath DIET

BISWANATH CHARIALI: The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Biswanath has organized a book fair named ‘Gyan Sarathi Grantha Yatra’ in conjunction with the ‘Let’s Go, Read Books’ programme of the institute. The book fair that commenced on May 27 will run till June 1.

The District Commissioner of Biswanath, Munindra Nath Ngatey, was the chief guest at the inaugural meeting held at the institute premises on Tuesday. The event also saw the opening of a work experience shop for the DIET trainees. It was inaugurated by Dr Chintamani Sharma, Principal, Biswanath College. The meeting was attended by Dr Ranendra Nath Burman, Associate Dean, Biswanath College of Agriculture, as the keynote speaker. In his speech, Dr Burman urged the teacher and student communities to grow reading habits among them. The office bearers of various literary and other organizations of the district were present on the occasion.

Various competitions including essay writing and drawing were also held among teachers and students from primary to higher secondary level in the undivided Sonitpur district during the ‘Gyan Sarathi Book Yatra’ programme.
