KOKRAJHAR: In a landmark step towards securing land rights for the people of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), BTC chief Pramod Boro on Thursday handed over Land Titles to 1,245 landless families at a ceremonial Land Settlement Certificates distribution event held at the Kazigaon Garopara Youth Sports Club Playground under Parbatjhora subdivision. This marked the first large-scale land title distribution in the subdivision and reflects the BTC administration’s unwavering commitment to justice and inclusive development.

Addressing the gathering, BTC chief Pramod Boro re-iterated the commitment to ensuring that no family remains landless. He announced that over 1,500 families in Parbatjhora remain to be covered, and they will be receiving their land certificates by July 10. He said that the present BTR Government had given land pattas to over 2.5 lakh in four and half years while the BPF distributed land pattas to only 16,023 families in 17 years. He said that there were 45,000 families living in PGR/BGR and they would be given land pattas within July and 9,000 small tea growers would be given land settlement within June.

Furthering this momentum, the second phase of the Bwiswmuthi initiative, Bwiswmuthi 2.0, is set to be launched in June. This upgraded phase will accelerate the land title distribution process, ensuring efficiency and fairness in identifying and reaching remaining beneficiaries, he added.

Ranjit Basumatary, EM, BTC, Madhab Ch Chetry, Nominated Member, BTC, Devajyoti Gogoi, SDO(C) Parbatjhora, along with other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
