KOKRAJHAR: For the first time, the BTC Executive Council meeting was held in New Delhi on Friday. The EC meeting held at the conference hall of Bodoland House at Kailash Colony in New Delhi was chaired by CEM Pramod Boro. The meeting discussed the comprehensive development of BTC in all spheres.
Later, talking to mediapersons, Chief of BTC Pramod Boro said that the EC meeting emphasized on inclusive and comprehensive development for all communities of the region. He said that the government of BTR was looking to create job avenues for unemployed youths through skill development and entrepreneurship training. There are eleven ITIs in BTC which would be upgraded to training-cum- production centres, he said, adding that the government will open organic training and production centres in 420 VCDCs in BTC. He also said that the council government was looking for extension of homestay and tourist resorts in three National Parks- Manas National Park, Raimana National Park, and Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park, and will develop a paragliding centre in the Dangdufur hills besides promoting adventure tourism.
Boro said that through the Bodoland Green Mission, the council was looking to stop the use of single-use plastic with alternative biodegradable products. He also said that by giving training on organic culture in 420 VCDCs, the BTC would be transformed to a complete organic region after five years. “To bolster football, our government is looking forward to organize football tournaments from VCDC to block level and to district level to increase the activities of football and to tab the talents,” he said, adding that the council has decided to host the 134th Durand Cup for the fourth consecutive term at Kokrajhar SAI Centre within the next few months.
