GUWAHATI: At the Assam Cabinet Meeting, the government took various decisions in favor of industrialization, renewable energy, and conservation of biodiversity in the state.
One of the key decisions made was the sanction for the setting up of a Mega Industrial Park in Morigaon. The Cabinet allotted 569 bighas of land under the Morigaon Revenue Circle to the Industries, Commerce, and Public Enterprises Department as a move towards the industrial development process of the state.
Further, the Cabinet gave approval to the Assam Integrated Clean Energy Policy, 2025, to establish Assam as a leading investment destination for the renewable energy sector. This policy will facilitate the establishment of solar, wind, mini and small hydro power projects, battery energy storage facilities, and green hydrogen projects, offering incentives for industries in several ways.
The Cabinet also backed the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited's (APDCL) move to issue a Letter of Acceptance for a 250 MW Solar Plant and support infrastructure under the "Mukhya Mantri Sauro Shakti Prokolpo."
In an attempt to promote biodiversity, the Cabinet gave its consent to the notification of the Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park, spread over 316.29 sq.km in the Kokrajhar and Chirang districts.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved setting up Swami Vivekananda University in Chirang district and gave permission for three PG increments for Ayurvedic doctors who have received a recognized postgraduate degree. Amendments were approved for seven Autonomous Council Acts to allow the appointment of an Interim Committee or Authority if elections are not feasible. Additionally, the Tiwa Autonomous Council Act was amended to increase elected members from 36 to 38.
