SILCHAR: Stalemate over the appointment for the post of principal in Cachar College seems to have ended as the Gauhati High Court dismissed the case filed by one of the former Governing Body members challenging the process of appointment. Simanta Bhattacharjee, representing Ajit Singh, filed the case alleging that the norms were violated by the management committee as no prior approval for advertisement for the post of principal was taken. Justice Arun Dev Choudhury, in his March 7 order, dismissed the case underlining that Bhattacharjee, the petitioner, could not be termed as an aggrieved party to question the selection process as he was an ex-member of the Governing Body. Justice Choudhury further maintained that the writ petition was liable to be dismissed as the petitioner was having no locus to maintain this writ petition not being an aggrieved party and secondly the petition was a premature case. The interim order, passed on January 7 that put hold on the appointment process, now stood vacated, the order further maintained.
