SILCHAR: Cachar Police, in another successful raid on Monday, seized a huge quantity of banned narcotic substances worth Rs 30 crore. SP Numol Mahatta informed that a special team of the district police raided a house at Chandrapur Part II, Kakmara in Lakhipur and recovered 98,000 Yaba tablets and 10 soap cases filled with heroin. Police arrested one person identified as Abdul Razak and recovered Rs 3.50 lakh in cash from his possession. Informing that the seized substances were tested positive by drug detection kits, Mahatta claimed that the worth of the Yaba tablets and heroin would not be less than Rs 30 crore in the black market. The psychotropic substances had been transported from Imphal, he further added.
Meanwhile, in another operation on Monday late night, the Cachar Police recovered 38 kg of cannabis from an e-rickshaw in Uttar Krishnapur near Silchar city. Three persons, identified as Jamrul Haque Laskar, Nazrul Islam Laskar, and Amjad Hussain Laskar were arrested. Mahatta said that the price of the seized substance in black market would be around Rs 30 lakh. The banned narcotic substance was being transported from Kolasib in Mizoram.
