NALBARI: Cattle theft incidents continue to cause concern among farmers and cattle owners in Assam. In the latest incident, a cow was allegedly stolen after thieves broke open the lock of a cowshed at Bagmara village under Ghagrapar police station in Nalbari district on Wednesday night.
The stolen cow belonged to Bhupen Das, son of Late Samin Das, a resident of Bagmara village. According to the family, the market value of the cow is around Rs 45,000.
The family has reportedly lodged an FIR at Ghagrapar police station. Police have started an investigation into the incident, but the cattle thieves have not yet been traced.
Locals said that cattle theft has become a recurring problem in several areas under Ghagrapar police station. In recent days, similar incidents have been reported from Latima, Bilpar, Jawjawkuchi, Barajol, Bhithamahal, and Palangdi villages.
