KOKRAJHAR: CEM of BTR Pramod Boro laid series of foundation stones for development schemes in Chirang on Thursday and inaugurated newly built production-cum-training centre of Handloom and Textile department in Udalguri last Wednesday.
On Thursday, Boro laid the foundation stones for the construction of boundary wall and change of GCI sheets at Amlaiguri Bodosa LP School, construction of boundary wall at Amlaiguri Model Anganwadi Centre, and construction of boundary wall at 1147 No. Amlaiguri LP School. He said that the infrastructure development projects at Amlaiguri model village were undertaken under Axom Adarxo Gram Yojana in Chirang district. The programme was joined by MLA Nirmal Kumar Brahma and EM Saikhong Basumatary.
On the other hand, Boro distributed fly shuttle frame looms with jacquard machines and accessories to the skillful and hardworking weavers of Udalguri district on Wednesday in connection with the completion of the skill-upgradation training in Maina Automatic Handloom for the year 2023-24. He also inaugurated the newly-built production-cum-training centre under the office of the Assistant Director, Handloom & Textiles, Udalguri on the occasion.
Boro stated that the government of BTR remained firmly committed to the holistic socio-economic development of the weavers of BTR and that it will continue to foster better opportunities for their upliftment in the days to come.
