SIVASAGAR: The Nikhil Assam Socialist Democratic Gana Swaraj Party and the Indian Patriotic Federation (Socialist) extended heartfelt appreciation to Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka for his commendable efforts in establishing the legacy of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva in the state.

In a press statement, senior journalist and state chief coordinator of the organizations Pranjal Rajguru highlighted Governor Deka’s initiative to honour Srimanta Sankardeva, a pioneer of Assam’s spiritual and cultural renaissance. Governor Deka, a former president of Assam BJP, ex-MP and currently serving as the Governor of Chhattisgarh, has played a crucial role in institutionalizing Sankardeva’s contributions at Pt Ravishankar Shukla University in Raipur.

Under his leadership, efforts are being made to establish an academic chair in Sankardeva’s name at the University. Notably, the last such initiative was undertaken 50 years ago when Assam’s late political stalwart Mahendra Mohan Choudhury successfully set up an academic chair in Sankardeva’s memory at Punjab University.

Recognizing this significant step after decades, the Nikhil Assam Socialist Democratic Gana Swaraj Party and the Indian Patriotic Federation (Socialist) have expressed gratitude to Governor Ramen Deka for his dedication in preserving and promoting the legacy of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva beyond Assam.
