DIBRUGARH: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired an important meeting today at the Chief Minister's Secretariat in Dibrugarh with officials from Dibrugarh Municipality, the Directorate of Town and Country Planning and other concerned departments.

The meeting focused on addressing the long-standing issue of artificial flooding in Dibrugarh, which has been a major concern for residents. The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure the completion of necessary flood mitigation works within a specified timeline, emphasizing accountability and efficiency in execution.

Cabinet Minister and MLA Prasanta Phukan, Dibrugarh Mayor Saikat Patra, District Commissioner Bikram Kairi and other senior officials were also present at the meeting. The government remains committed to implementing a long-term solution to prevent artificial flooding and improve urban infrastructure in Dibrugarh.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced major changes at a Cabinet meeting in Dibrugarh on March 20. He stated that shops located in the municipal corporation areas of Dibrugarh, Guwahati, and Silchar can now operate around the clock—24 hours a day, seven days a week—with no mandatory weekly closure, leaving the decision to the business owners. In other parts of the state, establishments will be permitted to remain open until 2 AM.
