GUWAHATI: Assam is poised for a major industrial transformation as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a high-level discussion with Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his son Anant Ambani on positioning the state as India’s next Industry 4.0 hub.
The meeting on Saturday focused on how Reliance Industries can help with this change. With new technology improving manufacturing, Assam aims to become a key center for innovation and industrial growth. Reliance Industries, known for its contributions to India’s industrial and technological growth, is expected to play a key role in shaping this vision.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, on February 3, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in Delhi to discuss improving the state's digital infrastructure. Scindia, who handles Communications and North Eastern Region Development, led a session called I-Ways in Viksit Assam at the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit. This session was a key part of their discussion.
The session had been believed to bring together industry leaders and experts to create a plan for improving Assam’s digital infrastructure. The main goal had been to build strong Information Highways that supported equal development and boosted the state’s technology progress.
Before the summit, the Assam government has been promoting investment in infrastructure, green energy, and manufacturing. Assam Minister Ashok Singhal recently held a roadshow in Kolkata to showcase the state's progress, better roads and facilities, and business opportunities. The event, linked to the Advantage Assam summit, focused on Assam’s growth in green energy and future potential.
