Barpeta: The Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Barpeta Xatra, Chinpara Vithi and Patbaudi Than on the eve of Doul Festival at Barpeta. Dr.Sarma inaugurated several development and beautification projects at Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva-established Patbausi Than.
Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated several beautification and development projects at Sri Sri Patbausi Xatra, including the Srimanta Sankardev Museum at Sri Sri Sankardev Than. The Chief Minister said to the media person that all the Xatras and Than of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva and Madhabdeva will be developed at any cost. Patbausi Than which was established by Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva where he had spent almost 18 years 6 months, holds immense cultural significance.
Again, the Chief minister also inaugurated the infrastructure development work of Chinpara Vithi Than, where Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva spent a year in 1544.
With an investment of Rs 7.32 cr, the project will enhance tourism, boost the local economy and provide better facilities for pilgrims visiting Barpeta Satra.
Afterwards Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Barpeta Satra, took blessings and took part in the holigeets with the locals at Barpeta Kirtan Ghor. Along with him Cabinet minister Ranjit Kr Dass, Phanibhushan Choudhury, Chandra Mohan Patowary also visted Barpeta Xatra during this doul festival (Bhordoul).
