GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has blamed 'third party' for the Sipajhar violence of September 23. Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said that the Darang administration went for evicting only 60 families in the Garukhuti area.

Further, the chief minister expressed his shock to witness that thousands of people gathered, protested and attacked the police force which provided security to the administration team that carried out the eviction in the area.

"From where these 10 thousand people came? So, there might a third party", he added. The Chief Minister also clarified that the eviction would continue. "We will give 6 bigha land to actual landless people. I have been saying it for the last two to three months. We already held discussions with the landless people. The Deputy Commissioner went to show the land. But we could not give land to those who came to other areas like Baghbar," he also said.

Slamming the Congress which demanded suspension of the Darang SP and DC, Chief Minister Sarma alleged that the Grand Old Party has no right to raise such issue. "Eight people were murdered in the area in 1983. Nobody had been arrested for that. Is it not my right to protect the temple? Some have even illegally occupied Shiva Mandir. Tomorrow, they may occupy the Kamakhya Temple". The administration carried the eviction drive as per my order. Why I have to suspend the SP and DC," he further said.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa also condemned the photographer who allegedly jumped on the body of a dead protester. But he urged to watch the entire video of the violence. "We can not come to a conclusion seeing a video of just a duration of 30 seconds. We must watch the entire video," he added.
