Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to conduct 'Bhumi Pujan' for construction of Ghunasuti Bridge

A preparatory public meeting was held at Ghunasuti Anchalik Ranga Mancha, Baghmora under the auspices of the Lakhimpur district administration on Friday

LAKHIMPUR: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will visit the Lakhimpur district on December 18 to conduct the 'Bhumi Pujan' of the Ghunasuti Bridge over the River Subansiri at Ghagar Ghat in addition to laying the foundation stone for the same.

As part of the preparations for the smooth conduct of the event on the designated day, a preparatory public meeting was held at Ghunasuti Anchalik Ranga Mancha, Baghmora under the auspices of the Lakhimpur district administration on Friday. The meeting was attended by Agriculture Minister-cum-Guardian Minister of Lakhimpur Atul Borah, Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka, Dhakuakhana MLA Naba Kumar Doley, Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan, SP Bedanta Madhav Rajkhowa, Dhakuakhana SDO (Civil) Arindam Baruah, members of the Mising Autonomous Council (MAC), leaders of the BJP, AGP and Sanmilita Gana Shakti, Asom, dignitaries of the six organizations of the Mising community along with the public. The meeting was chaired by MAC member Biju Pegu.

"The upcoming 'Fortnight of Development' (Bikashor Poshek) of the Government of Assam, to commence from December 5 and it will bring good news for the people of the State. From December 17, the construction of the Dhemaji Medical College and Hospital will start. On the very next day on December 18, the 'Bhumi Pujan' will be conducted to construct the Ghunasuti Bridge over River Subansiri at Ghagar Ghat to connect Ghunasuti with North Lakhimpur town. With the construction of the bridge, as promised by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, a dream cherished by the people of Ghunasuti for a long time will come true," said minister Atul Borah while delivering his speech in the meeting. In addition to him, Dhakuakhana MLA Naba Kumar Doley, Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka also delivered a lecture in the meeting addressing the public.
