NAGAON: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is scheduled to visit Nagaon on Sunday to inaugurate a new library and several significant infrastructure projects, including a long-anticipated connectivity initiative that has been a demand for the past 50 years. The announcement was made via the social media platform X, where CM Sarma also mentioned about plans for an afternoon interactive session with the residents of Kampur.
The connectivity project will revolutionize transportation and accessibility in the area, boosting local development and travel convenience for its residents. The project hopes to realize a long-existing clamor of the people, bringing a turning point to the region.
On Saturday, CM Sarma attended a conference where he highlighted the achievements of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Assam since taking office in 2016. He emphasized the progress made in empowering indigenous communities, stating, “The BJP government has made Assam a better place to live under Modi ji’s leadership.”
Sarma spoke about immigration and demographic issues, claiming the government is devoted to recovering land and political representation for the indigenous people. He expressed alarm over the demographic shifts since 1951, particularly the increase in madrassas, which he believes is impacting the cultural and political space for indigenous communities in Northeast India.
The Chief Minister's statement highlights the BJP emphasis on indigenous issues and administration towards opening the gateway for more development initiatives in Assam.
