JAMUGURIHAT: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced on Wednesday that from now onwards, girl students who have passed the Higher Secondary Final Examination with 60% and boys with 75% and above will get scooties only if they enroll in government colleges for further studies.
This declaration made by the Chief Minister got mixed responses from the student’s community. Some of the meritorious students of Sootea area have expressed sadness over the Chief Minister’s announcement. Such students have expressed their dissatisfaction on social media platforms.
Many meritorious students in the greater Sootea area have been undertaking coaching classes to prepare themselves for all India examinations like NEET, JEE, etc. Some of them are presently studying in colleges outside the state in government colleges. The students have appealed to the Chief Minister to uphold the previous decision to distribute the scooties to all meritorious students irrespective of where they join.
The students have made a humble appeal to Chief Minister Sarma to uphold the earlier decision and not deprive a huge section of the meritorious students.
