DHUBRI: On Friday, during a panchayat poll rally in the Dhubri district’s Golokganj, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma criticised the Congress on all fronts.

While making scathing attack on Congress, he highlighted the BJP’s achievements in the state.

Sarma during his speech made several promises including 4,000 more Oronodoi scheme beneficiaries in Golakganj assembly constituency, from October 1, ration card holders would get sugar, dal, and salt at lower prices, LPG cylinder at Rs 650 for general public and Rs 250 subsidy for those already using Ujjwala gas, Rs 2,500 monthly stipend for one year for matriculation exam takers and Rs 300 monthly stipend for one year.

“Existing beneficiaries of Rs 10,000 will receive an additional Rs 25,000 each. During Congress regime, people had to bribe for basic necessities like clothes and threads. I suggest Congress should contest elections under the “lungi” poll symbol instead of the hand symbol”, Sarma rediculed.

Sarma promised strong and strict action against those singing in praises of Pakistan while living in India. Sarma emphasized the BJP’s focus on development and welfare, urging people to vote for the party’s candidates in the Zilla Parishad and Anchalik Panchayat elections. The rally was part of the second phase of the Panchayat election campaign in the state.
