
TINSUKIA: In a significant development in Upper Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma performed the Bhoomi Pujan for a major ₹8.72 crore development project at the revered Burha Burhi Saal temple in Chapakhowa, located in the Sadiya Co-District of Tinsukia.
The project aims to restore the historic main Mandir structure and build modern amenities and infrastructure to enhance the overall experience for devotees and pilgrims. The initiative underscores the Assam government’s commitment to preserving spiritual heritage while simultaneously boosting tourism and local development.
As part of the day’s events, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a Treated Running Water Project worth ₹80.92 lakh, aimed at providing a clean and sustainable water supply for pilgrims visiting the temple. This critical facility is expected to improve hygiene and convenience, especially during high-footfall religious gatherings.
Speaking at the site, CM Sarma emphasised the cultural and historical significance of Burha Burhi Saal in the Tinsukia region and reiterated the government’s focus on inclusive development of remote areas like Sadiya. He added that such projects would not only preserve Assam’s spiritual identity but also uplift the socio-economic fabric of the region.
The event witnessed participation from local MLAs, government officials, temple authorities, and a large number of devotees, all expressing gratitude for the government’s proactive approach to regional development.
This marks yet another milestone in the Assam Government’s efforts to develop Eastern Assam’s heritage, infrastructure, and public services through holistic and sustainable planning.
