Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal orders CID probe into journalist death

The probe order comes after the family members of the deceased and various organisations, journalists fraternity and political parties smelled foul play and demanded a proper investigation of the incident.

Guwahati: The Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal has ordered a CID probe into the death case of journalist Parag Bhuyan. The death of Bhuyan has left a trail of mystery behind.

The probe order comes after the family members of the deceased and various organisations, journalists fraternity and political parties smelled foul play and demanded a proper investigation of the incident. Assam Chief Miniter's Office (CMO) tweeted:

"Taking note of various allegations regarding the death of senior journalist Parag Bhuyan, CM Sarbananda Sonowal has directed a CID inquiry into the matter," Assam Chief Minister's Office (CMO) tweeted.

Bhuyan was a senior journalist from Kakopathar. He was also the vice president of Tinsukia District Journalists' Association (TDJA). Bhuyan, who was injured in a road accident on Wednesday, succumbed to his injuries at a nursing home in Dibrugarh on Thursday.

Two persons have been arrested by the police in connection to this case, and the vehicle has been seized.

CM Sarbananda Sonowal also expressed his condolences for the demise of the journalist. Taking it to Twitter, he wrote:

"Saddened to learn about the untimely demise of Parag Bhuyan, a reputed journalist and Vice-President of Tinsukia District Journalists' Association. My sincere condolences to his bereaved family members & well-wishers."

Various journalists' associations and organizations around the state have condoled the death of Bhuyan. 'Justice for Parag Bhuyan' and 'Justice for Parag' slogans rings across the state.
